I have a vibration some where in my truck .It,s a 95 full size bronco. The sound sounds like the fan is hitting the shrould but it is'nt I realy can't tell where the sound is coming from. Kind of sounds like engine knock, like a power steering pump squealing so i realy dont know where. Oh it does'nt do it all the time. Has any body ever had a problem like this.NEED HELP DRIVING ME OUT OF MY MIND.
Check all of the driven accessories (water pump, alternator, ps pump, smog pump, A/C compressor, and the tensioner pulley) - as well as the belt itself. You said that it does not do it all of the time. Have you been using the A/C? It could be the compressor and it makes noise when it is on.
It could also be an exhaust leak, among other things.
And it could be something striking the fan that you don't notice when the truck is turned off, because the fan blades flex a little bit when running. So it might be hitting something at certain rpm's but is not visible when you are looking at the motor.
My first two guesses, without much to work with here - are the serpentine belt or the water pump.
When it is making the noise spray the belt with wd-40 and see if it goes away for a few seconds-If it does replace belt- when belt is off pull in and out on all pulleys to check for bearing play- look at plastic idler pulley and see if it has flat spots on it(common prob) and replace if it does.Look at tensioner pulley and make sure it is not cocked sideways(common prob) AND if you can't get a belt right now take some silicon rubber (yes gasket maker, I like black RTV) and with engine OFF smear some in grooves of belt between each pulley- close hood slightly and tap starter, repeat smearing (don't go crazy with it though) ,close hood again and start engine, this quiets belts for quite a while!!!! Ford tech tip that makes a lot of customers happy without spending alot of $$$$$. (closing hood keeps the silcon rubber out of your eyes when the engine is started)

That is great! I never thought of it. If I can keep my belt on for longer than the several months that I do now before the chirping starts I would sure appreciate that. You can bet that I will try it when my current belt, which is several months old, starts in to squeaking. I'll post the results when I do.

I have tried every thing that you have said. Ive had it to grdages nobody seems to be able to find the problem. Dont know just have to listen to the noise.
Explain more when the noise happens? Is it after it warms up. Is it during Idle? Is it when it is wet outside. Is it at first startup? can you stand outside your car and here it with the hood open. Are there any special things you can tell us to help figure it out?
I have a 98 F-150 that the Alt just kinda crapped out, it worked perfect but whined like a big dog, everyone was like your power steering pump is shot. lol nah the bearings in the alt were shot, hell thought I could have at least got 350k miles out of it!! thats the only new part on the truck as far as engine, and its a little over 300k miles,
Remove the belt and start it up and let it run for a minute or so.Is it gone?? You definatly must narrow it down as to when it does it every time- hot, cold engine, wet or dry weather, cold or warm weather, left or right turns, ac or headlights on, is truck moving or sitting still -etc. Is clutch fan ok?????? Is fan on high blower speed when noise-vib. present(something in fan cage, set funtion contol to max ac and look through air intake at pass, side under glove box to remove whatever is in there, paper, leaves etc, use magic fingers to grab)Taking alot of guesses here but without being there that is the best I can do---Good luck
The noise is more present when you stopand sometimes when you take off. It can do it at any time there is no pecfice time that it does it. Can be wet or dry doesn't matter which . Belt is new check all puleys, exhaust fan shrould fan hub everything on top and bottom. So that dont leave much. I thought maybe somebody mighthave had the same problem with another bronco. I know it would be awfull hard for someone to tell with not being here. Thanks for your time.
HERE IS A PART THAT I NEED. ThE CLIP THAT HOLDS THE NUT ON A 1995 BRONCO FULL SIZE .iT LOOKS LIKE A HALF SNAP RING GOES ON THE NUT THAT HOLDS THE HUB AND THE ROTOR ON.
The :"C" clip you are refering to snaps onto the axle at or where it comes out of the spindle- it does not hold the bearing retainer nut on- when you unscrew nut off it can not be completely removed untill you remove the "C" clip, it will tighten up on removal if clip is still there and if you try to continue unbolting the nut it will break clip all to pieces.Aree you sure you don't have a bad spindle bearing- you have to remove hub assembly and then unbolt spindle-9/16 nuts I think, grab your wd-40 and a dead blow hammer and start beating from side to side untill you finally loosen the spindle( have spent hours on stubborn ones), remove spindle and look at needle cage bearing, prob no grease in it and you better hope it did't tear up outer axle shaft where bearing was riding, it will have to be replaced if it is worn and grooved.Only hear this noise vibration concern when axle is turning( in 4x4 mode)As for finding clip, I think it is only availible from ford in a kit.( I could be wrong about this but Our dealer is closed on Sat. so I will not know untill monday)
