C6-locking torque converter?

C6-locking torque converter?

Hi, I own a 1988 with a 351 and C6. I noticed when I go up a steep hill and the transmission is in 2<SUP>nd</SUP> gear and I shift from drive to 2<SUP>nd</SUP> gear I can feel a very slight change in engine rpms, but I know the transmission did not shift. It just feels like it slips more.

Why is that? The only thing I can think is the torque converter unlocking and locking but I’m pretty sure the C6 does not have a locking torque converter.

I’m just wondering why this happens?
