Thanks Mike. I just taped off the dash and painted it, and now I'm tryning to find a peice of trim that goes around the glove box area from a bone yard, and touch up on it to get it looking good again, then I will be finished with that part of the inside.
The next projects for the inside will be to put a rust preventative and a bedliner on the whole inside of the floor, then new seats and maybe a different center console.
The only problem with the seats in the bone yards around here is they're trashed. Does anyone know if seat from a later model explore would fit?

MBB, I don't know anything about bucket seats in our trucks, but there is a guy that comes in from time to time called Hawkrod. I'm pretty sure he knows. He posted something a while back about seat interchange, but I don't remember what it was.
As far as that piece around the glove box, I have something to say about that. I searched long and hard for that piece also. A lot of the ones I found were either cracked or broken. I thought they were all plastic, but as it turns out....the piece for a 73 XLT and possibly a 74 is not plastic. It's made of metal. If you can find one of those, that is the piece to have. I found mine on Ebay. The metal piece is actualy chrome plated. I used my dremel tool, with a buffing wheel and some compound on my piece. It shines like a brand new silver dollar.
What kind of paint did you use to paint your dash, regular spray paint or car paint?
Did you primer it, or just paint it? Spill the details. It looks good, and I'm about to try it.

It is slowly changing because I hae done most of the bodywork and the first week of june the truck will be painted. (the inside of the truck is already painted). Please let me know what you guys think about my interior. You can tell me it really sucks or its good just be honest I would like to know what you guys honestly think about it. Also I got the seatcover on the seat now. I still got some things like right now i got a rubber mat on the floor that came with the truck I cant decide to leave that or put carpet in the truck? What do you guys think? black carpet or black rubber mat?
thanks,
Jimmy

Well Mike I used a white KRYLON (Interior-Exterior) base coat, because I wanted my 2101 Cherrry Red Gloss(KRYLON Interior-Exterior) to pop and just really stand out after I cleand the old paint up and I did very little sanding with a fine grit sand paper.
For the Dash trim I wish I could find a metal piece(who much did you pay for yours?), but all I could find on the internet was the plastic one(for the wood grain one it cost $65, and for the black $50). In a bone yard I found a black one I'll pick up when I get the time for FREE, and I'll put a wood trim in it.
It really wasn't that hard you should definitally do it. You'll be glad you did when you finish.
Good luck.

I like what you did, I really looks sharp. I bet you spent a lot of time on all the details.
If it were me I would put the rubber mat, just because I would cover the carpet with mud IF I got stuck and would have to get out and get back in, thats why I took mine out and I'll soon be putting a rust preventative and then a bedliner on the whole interior of my Bronco.
Just wondering how much did you pick up the truck for? I bet it will look great after that paint job.
Make sure to post pic's of the paint job.
Have fun and good luck with all the work you'll be doing to it.

MBB, I bought mine several months ago and can't remember exactly what I paid. I'm thinking I paid in the neighbor hood of 30 to 40 bucks for it. I know it wasn't just dirt cheap, but it wasn't any where near 65. If your serious about getting one, send me a PM. Someone emailed me today that has a couple of them.
My truck is currently sitting in the drive way completely gutted. I took steel wool and did the light sanding. I blew all the dust out with the compressor, then wiped everything down with laquer thinner. I sprayed 2 light coats of grey primer in it followed by 1 coat of white. Tommorow, I'll give it a couple more coats of white. My truck was originaly baby blue inside, with dark blue dash pad, door panels, and seat. I'm going to paint all the metal white, and leave the other stuff dark blue. As far as my dash board....I had it sand blasted, and I'll paint it some time tommorow. In between coats of primer drying, I got my locking hood latch installed, man that thing is cool. So far everything has been easy like you said, but it sure takes a long time to get everything taped up, and prepared.
Here's a couple of tips for your trim items. On the guage bezel, and A/C vents.....completely disassemble them. Scrub them in a hot sink with good old dawn dish washing soap. After they dry, get a fine tip silver paint pen from wal mart, and go over the places that are silver. It won't be show quality when your done, but you will be amazed at how much better they look.
IF you score one of the metal glove box trim pieces, you can take a buffing wheel and compound on a dremmel tool, and make it shine like a brand new silver dollar.
You said something about the wood grain on the glove box trim piece. I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure none of those have wood grain. All the ones I have seen so far, have been black and chrome.

I got my truck for free it was dads and he quit drivign it so within a year from a complete rusted up truck it turned into what you see now. The truck is a 1978 ford f-250 custom that (came withthe free-wheeling package from factory). when i got the truck off of dad it needed compete new body. I striped it to frame and started going at it. The whole underneigh of the truck is all painted and also the inside of the outer fenders and everywhere these truck normaly rust i coated very very good with paint. I will post more pics as the truck gets fauther along.
thanks,
Jimmy

I finaly got most of the inside of my truck done. I repainted the whole inside, added a 80 model wheel, got most of the factory A/C in, added a locking hood release. Still need to carpet the floor board, figure out what I want for a headliner, and a few little odds and ends. I added a few pictures to my gallery and be sure to comment with the good the bad and the ugly.
A special thanks to MBB ford for his advice.
