Hey guys I dont liek the orignal steerign wheel in my ford f-250 with the new custom interior. Have you guys have and luck withthe aftermarket steering wheels that Grant makes? Do you guys get the horn buttons to work? If so how good do these horn buttons work? Also what kind of grant steering wheels are you running? I have a grant steering wheel adapter already. Please let me know what kind of wheels you guys are running and also maybe some pictures and how yo ulike the steering wheel.
thanks,
Jimmy
well guys i will soon be running a grant signature series wheel euro wheel (742) with a custom horn button that LMC sales and also the billet alluminum adapter kit.
thanks,
jimmy
PS Think that wheel will look good in my truck?
you have to make absolutly sure you get the correct adapter for the horn to work and the turn signals to cancel. i have an older GT Grant wheel on my 76, but ive never had the right adapter so i gotta cancel the signals manualy, which is a pain but im used to it now.....there is a picture of it in my gallery, in the F-150 folder........
Not sure of the type of my grant, but there's a pic or 2 in my gallery. Love the grants. I have replaced the originals on several of my other trucks with grants. You want to go with a little less than stock size, like a 14 looks good performs well.
I s**tcanned my stock one but it was like 15" or 16". I could barely get my legs between the old wheel and the seat, and I'm skinny, but I'm sure if you look around there are one's that are the same size. Mine has a much wider grip than the original so going down in size is less noticable.
Yes, that's a 78-79 factory wheel. It's rather rare, but you can find them sometimes - search the classifieds, put in a want add, and check ebay. I think some cars came out with them too. If you want the same look, you can get a classic chrome grant wheel and install a horn button with a ford oval. It will look similar but not identical.
My '73 has a chrome 3 spoke grant wheel, the horn works, but I haven't tried to get the blinkers to cancel yet (switch is broken). My wheel is 11-12 inches, that's a little too small. The last one was 13 and that was just right for me...
I've got an old offname 3 spoke wheel (Indy 500 ?) I pulled out of my Dad's toolshed and mounted in my '79. Works great and looks much better than my stocker. The Grant horn button assembly I bought from SummitRacing looks flimsy, but if it is installed properly it will work fine. The horn circuit board must seat fully into the indents on the cap and then the cap is rotated. It is 15" instead of the 16" stcoker and works better for my manual steering. it takes a little more leverage to turn, but turns quicker. I didn't have any problems with my turn signal assembly or horn function.
My steering wheel was all cracked and no center piece but I just put one on from a 89 a little smaller but no complaints I think it looks okay horn and everything works I like it.
