Ive searched and still haven't found my answer. So, I have a 1978 F150 Ranger Xlt, is there any way to tell what the paint code is for the dash? The exterior is 2 tone, dark brown metallic and cinnamon glow. The dash looks close to cinnamon glow, but I didn't see it listed as a paint code for the interior in 1978. I could post a picture if that would help. Also, the interior paint code isn't on the door tag is it? Thanks
There isn't an interior paint code listed because the interior is painted the same color as the exterior.
When a truck is two tone, the interior is painted the primary exterior color.
If you go to an automotive paint store, they can use a special paint matching tool, a spectrometer that reads the different colors that make up your paint color, and create the formula for a perfect match. Call around until you find one in your area that has this tool, sort of a ray gun-looking thing.
Any chance you might still have the build sheet under your front seat? It may have the paint code listed in all of it's data.
But even if you have the name of the exact color, and even the code, you are still going to have a heck of a time finding a color store that will still have the formula for this interior color.
Try removing your glove box door, remove the woodgrain panel from it revealing the unfaded original paint color, and have them match it from that.
You can get the paint matched at your local automotive paint store, they do it all the time.
Hey t_hess, I've gone back over your original inquiry, and subsequent posts on this subject, and I don't think I've actually answered what you want to know. I thought you were needing information so you would be able to get the paint you need to refinish your dash panel, but no where do you actually say that. If you're really just wanting confirmation on the name of the color, your guess sounds good to me.
