engine is coming along with some minor issues I.E. waiting for parts, and waiting for money to buy more parts. Assemble short block yesterday, and ran into a couple of minor issues such as the piston domes still slightly hit the compustion chamber (without the gasket) so have to either roll the edge of the dome back some more, or work on the compustion chamber a little, this was caused by the fact when we squared the block it ended up bringing the pistons clear to zero deck and with as much piston to wall clearence as I run it lets the piston rock a little. Also degreed the cam and it's at 3 deg advanced so have to pull the timing set, and fix that put not a big issue. any shouldn't hijack this thread maybe I will start another thread about that in a while

Four links see MUCH more stress than simple ladder bars and their brackets are welded directly on. So's my ladder bar brackets. Maybe you just need to step up to a real axle that has a respectable wall thickness

Naw you just need to step up to a real motor, and a true ladder bar setup then see if those "REAL" axles have enough wall thickness

Well, I was running a "true" (i.e. solid link) before, and if my measly little 600hp+ plus motor didn't break any welds on those brackets I don't think anybody needs to worry about it

Ladder bars really don't see THAT much stress, with a properly setup suspension.

has anyone ever tried mounting a single bar to the bottom of the axle and then to the frame vs. "ladder bars" with the u-bolts.what are the pros and cons between the two? My main concern is axle wrap. I have 12" springs,44" swampers and a 500+ HP mill. I race it a little bit.I mostly ride it on the street. I dont plan on doing any rock crawlin so articulation shouldnt be a factor. thanks guys.
