I want to pick up a spare CPS and put it in my glove box should I need one while on the road. I went to my local Ford dealer armed with the information I got from this web site and he told me the ONLY way to get the correct CPS was to pull out the old one, get the part number off of it, and then bring the part number to the Ford dealer. He also said using the engine number would not provide enough info to obtain the correct CPS
That sounds strange to me. I went in a Ford dealer a couple of weeks ago, told them what I needed and the year of my truck, they punched the computer and brought out the part. Nothing else said or no more information needed. If you are buying it for a spare and can wait a week for it, I would order it online and save the $100.

I am no expert but I don't think all that info is required. I bought one off of ebay for $80 incl. shipping and installed it last weekend. It was for 1999-2003 PSD and runs fine with it installed. No extra info required. I wouldn't bother with the "stealership" anymore!
No, the o-ring comes on it. When you take the old one out make sure the o-ring comes out with the old one. I have read where sometimes it sticks in the hole, but mine didn't. I ordered my spare from here: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214083
