Coil resistor wire voltage

I have a question regarding the pink resistance wire coming off the ignition switch. What is the voltage to the coil supposed to be after the resistance wire? About 9v or so? I had a friend's truck that needed some serious wire harness repairs. The prior owner(s) had tapped into the resistance wire to power several accessories (like the heater). That wire got pretty hot before I ran it and found the tapped leads coming off it.

I just want to check the coil end to see if it is still working OK. Also is htere a way to wire in a seperate ballast resistor to use instead of the pink resistance wire? I think Dodges used one.

About 6V at the coil. There is a better idea out there! Convert your points type ignition to a Pertronix Ignitor II, run a 12 Volt lead to the coil and forget about the resistor wire altogether. The ballast from Mopar will work but upgrading to Pertronix is really the solution to a bunch of problems. If your friend wants a completely stock appearance Pertronix is not visible unless you pull the dist cap.

My P.O. of my 65 removed the pink wire. I used a mopar resitor for awhile but now run an MSD only cause i had it laying around and it work with points.
