I have read a post on another web site about "minimum idle speed" for our fuel injected trucks. Does anyone know what the prodedure for this is if any? I haven't read of any in the haynes and the dealer sais they have to hook it up to their special equipment to do it.(yeah right)
Thanks
If anyone has been reading my past posts i'm still looking into my idling problem.
Idle speeds are controlled by the computer . The base idle is set from the factory by an screw on the throttle linkage . Are you having a problem with the idle speed ?
I've been having an idling problem for quite some time. I figured that the idle a preset value from the computer and that the idle screw has nothing to do with it. I had adjusted the idle screw but set it back to original position. The truck idled too high during initial start. Thanks
I've read in I think the Alldata refence material somewhere about disconnecting the iac at operating temp, have timing set at spec, and set the idle around 500 rpm or so. I may not be correct with the numbers, but the process is correct. I know this works on the 80's models, so if it is set up the same in the 90's, it should work. I would just make sure that the engine is idling properly first, so as not to give you more problems in the future.
