Howdy! E40D feedback?
Hello folks,
I'm new to the FTE forum, and am looking for some feedback
on my '93 E150 van. I bought it about two months ago from
the original owner with about 112K miles and in pretty good shape.
It's got the 5L V8, E4OD trans, and almost NO accessories except
for towing package and a huge gas tank.
I'm wondering about the trans now. I found a tag hanging from the bottom of the trans when I crawled under it to change the oil. I
assume that it's a rebuilt trans, and now it
sometimes shifts rather harshly when going into OD, and also feels
like the trans is slowing the van down some. Does this mean the
trans is going out? Is this a reliable trans in the long run?
I saw a post from Texas that said the E4OD is a good strong unit
if you have a '94 or newer with updates.
Can my '93 trans be updated? or does it need to be replaced with
a '94 or newer to have some longer-term reliability?
