New Flash
I was wondering if there was a newer flash than the 12A650-ATG? Thats what the sticker says under my hood. This flash was installed on 3-30-04.My truck motor was built 9-29-03.If there is a newer flash is it good? My truck runs great but through a code on my SCMT so I was going to take it in soon. Just dont want something bad to happen.Thanks guys.

They reflashed mine and I regret it. It had an occasional erratic idle and the new flash fixed it. But it also "fixed" other stuff.
My MPG went from 17.5 to 15.
The quiet idle is now a loud idle.
Tow/haul mode is only 50% of what it used to be.
The transmission shift points are now inconsistent.
I wish I had kept the original. The build date is 2-04, not sure of the flash number.

I had my 03 (1/03 build) re-flashed three weeks ago when they replaced the EGR-
All is well and in fact, the tow/haul seems to be similar to when it was new. Acceleration is great for a stock truck. Did some highway driving recently after putting on my summer tires and the overhead Lie-0-Meter said 23.1 mpg! I'm happy...

There was a flash that came out in Nov 04. I got it in Jan 05. I decided
to get it because my trusted diesel tech said it was a big improvement,
and my truck was idling alittle rough. All I can say is it was a major
improvement. Truck idles smoother, fuel mileage greatly improved, and the
acceloration is much, much better through out the power band. It really
improved the overall performance of my 6.0L 03 PSD!

Then your previous flash must have been really terrible, eharman.
That was the same time I got the flash put in too. My mileage went down, 17.5 to 15 The idle was smoother but a lot louder. Performance was about the same. But now the transmission shift points are inconsistent, with the same load on the truck.
I want my old flash back, oh well, its gone with the wind.
It seems like each persons results with the same thing will not be identical.

The only other flash I had was the Oct 03 flash. It was not all that
bad, but my truck never did idle that smooth and the fuel mileage
dropped some. I am getting 18+ mpg combined driving where I was only getting 16+ mpg. I think it has alot to do with how the diesel tech
programs the pcm. My truck runs so much better, I sold my Predator.
No it is not as fast as it was when I was using the Predator, but she
is faster and smoother than when she was new. The Nov 04 flash
is a winner here. The shift point are the same and the t/h mode is not
as aggressive, but that is fine because it was really shifting hard when
braking with a heavy load.
