I hope stine02 does return . . . . . he sure jumped in with a splash! If you're there, Welcome to FTE and our world of "Slick 60s" trucks.
There's nothing as satisfying or effective as smokin' "Rat Motors" at will consistently, for getting "Orange Replacement Engine" people into an uproar & giving 'em something to talk about too. I know my 66s' 460, altho' not well liked among Blow Tie Boyz, is sure well known,. . . locally anyway. . . .
Stineo2,
If you want your "Slick 60s truck" to run "right" stick with us because this is the place for info & experience with ALL FOMOCO ENGINES. frty7ford is right on with his advice about FTE engine forums in the main menu here at the FTE Site. THe only thing we can't do with our Slicks is "cheat the wind" well, but we even have ways to cheat the wind the best we can. . . .
If you are hanging in here, what are you wanting from your 66? I mean what's your overall objective with it? Performance, Cruisin', daily driving, road truck? show truck? or some form of compromise/ combo, IOW where are you headed with it? We have all kinds here, and some great examples too. . . .
I have a 37 chevy p/u and I am planning on putting a 302 and C-4 in it when I get my 55 sunliner done,I wish I would of done it from the start as I put a 235 in it to make the restoration easier but I hate the original drivetrain now that I have gotten the truck done. Jeff
like in one of the above post we all go different ways with our trucks from rock stock to wild i probably went a different way with mine than most i did the 460/c6 swap and then put in a 4"lift with a 31"tire in front and 33'tire in the rear like some of the old deasert trucks with the prerunner bumers and the spare on the roll bar it turned out pretty neet for a 65 2wd f100
