I was thinking of putting a brace that would keep the divorced transfer case on my 70 F-250 from flexing. When in 4 low i can see that the t-case moves back and forth. I have replaced the bushings but it still does it. I was thinking of building a crossmember from flat metal and then welding a bar from the crossmember to one of the t-case plates so that it can be removed also. What do you guys think.
Thanks for the pic pro that is exactly what i was thinking. Btw how do you like the 5.13 gears. I was thinking about those gears when i get my 60 front. Our tires are close in height and was wondering how you like the gearing. I do have the dana 24 t-case with the, i think, 1.86 low range. While yours is the 205 with a 1.96 low range. So it shouldnt be too much different. Oh and what is the true height on 44'' boggers. My 42's have a true height of 41 3/4''. Thanks
I like the 5.13s. 5.38s probably would have been optimum but they aren't available for a d70. 44" Boggers at low end street pressure measure out closer to 43's...part of that is that they have a flat tread block where the swampers are crowned. The Dana 24 is a great xcase, every bit as strong as the np205.
Yeah i haven't had a single prob with my t-case in terms of strength. As of right now i dont even use my high range because of the 4'10s unless the mud isn't real deep. I'm hoping to be able to use the high range for mud bogging and use my low range for some trails and crawling with the 5.13's.
Ivan should just be happy I'd capped the cutouts before I fired her up with him down there. Its cuz I'm so damned sensitive to the needs of others, thats why
One of the reasons my stuff holds together so well (more or less) is that I've braced the hell out of everything...when running a divorced unit an extra brace like this is always smart money.
Pro I am just curious with all the extra bracing and building you have done to that truck have you ever weighed it I would be curious what that monster weighs.
