I change mine once a year. I had my rear end rebuilt about a year an a half ago. But after a year of driving (about 20,000 miles) the fluid still looked clean. I would say probably every 40,000 would be fine. Depends on how much you haul with it.
When I had my tranny gone through the said that the top seal (on the manual) usually always leaks. So he replaced it with a newer type of seal. Luck me it never leaked to begin with.
what brand of gear oil do ya'll recommend? I was thinking maybe changing my tranny fluid with maybe royal purple or another high end oil would smooth out my shifting.

i changed my tranny oil with castrol 80W90 today. the oil that came out was pretty dark, but atleast there was a good bit of it in there. now it will be changed every 60,000.
