On my way to school i felt my clutch wasn't releasing all the way. So i checked the fluid Full. The firewall doesn't flex and the hyd cylinder on the bellhousing moves about an inch.
I'm going to try to bleed it and see if that helps.
Any ideas?
Also why does the brass fitting i have for my mechanical guage leak when it's tight? I have a 2" nipple into a tee and it's leaking.
The brass fitting may be leaking because it is too tight. Sometimes that will happen. Also, if there is any heat build-up, brass has a different expands more than metal.
Why would it be time for a new clutch? it grabs just fine and it works perfect when i adjusted the pedal, but then gets mushy again. The truck is an 85 and it has the external slave cylinder. i'm thinking that the master cylinder or slace cylinder is going out.
77: It was a little loose so i tightened it up and i'll keep an eye on it.
Can anyone tell me what type of auto trans I would need in order to swap out my 3 speed. I have a 65 F100 I6 2WD. Also, what about the drive shaft and how will this play on the rear end??
Thankx
You would want a C6 tranny. One from a windsor small block (289/302/351) should bolt up to your I6 (if you have a 240/300). Or if you can find one from a I6 that would work too. I'm not sure about the driveshaft and the gears should be ok. Do you know what gear syou have? I would think that with the 3-speed they would be higher than if your truck came with an auto.
