My '95 F150 (300, 5-speed, 4x4) has a periodic miss similar to water in the tank. I notice it especially in 4th at ~40mph. Downshifting to 3rd will either mask it or make it go away - not sure which.
I was thinking it's the ignition wires since they're original. The rest was tuned within the last year, including a new fuel filter.
Does this sound like a likely culpruit? Does anyone have suggestions for good replacement wires? Will replacing more of the ignition help (coil, dist, etc.)?
Before you spend anymore money on parts try disconnecting the vacuum from the EGR valve and drive it. If your miss is gone the engine is running slightly lean. Sorry I can't tell you how to fix it though. Mines (89) been that way for 10 years. I gave up a long time ago trying to fix it and just live with it.
