88 Ranger missing/stalling

88 Ranger missing/stalling
My son's 88 Ranger is missing and stalling. The miss is very bad, almost as if the timing was totally out of whack. The engine shakes as bad as a washing machine with an unbalanced load. There is a very strong odor of gasoline. No fuel leaks. The left bank exhaust manifold/pipe connection is wet. No fuel out tailpipe. Pulled a plug left side, wasn't wet but didn't look normal either. Pulled distrubutor cap, all was good. Scanned engine and got codes 12 and 18. 12 is cannot control rpm during self check or idle speed control problem. 18 is spark output or spark advance failure. The ignition system is the TFI-IV. Does this sound like the ignition module? Or something else? I bought this truck brand new in 88 and gave it to my son when I got my F250. Never have encountered any ignition problems until now. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor all changed approx 10k miles ago.
