My '96 PSD just stopped running, it just died suddenly! Checked diagnostic, and got the CPS error( 0344 CMP Sensor Circuit Intermittent), so I changed the CPS sensor.
But the engine will not start. Only code I'm getting now is 0603 Internal Control Module KAM Error . Is that error something that will keep my PSD from starting?
Help relly wanted!
You might be able to clear the KAM error by disconnecting the batteries for about 15 minutes. This will in effect reset the PCM and should clear the error. The truck may be a little quirky for about 10 - 20 miles while the PCM relearns the truck. If that doesn't work; then it's time to see the stealer for some diags. and possibly a new PCM. Sorry; I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear. Try the reset routine. It should work.
Five minutes won't cut it because there is a circuit inside the PCM that is called "keep alive five" It provides a sort of secondary power to the module for five minutes approx.. The circuit is there, so the PCM won't be reset when a battery is changed out. Make sure you disconnect both batteries.....so it has no way of getting power.

Reason: need to add
This is pretty strange, but maybe it worked after all.... I ordered a deal at the local Ford dealer to make'em look at it. To get the car there, I called the same guys that were picking me up the day it stopped, and they were willing to move it there. Wen loading it on, they needed to turn the wheels, and that is as you all know not easy when engine not running, so they ran the starter to make the pump run a little...and the damn thing started, and is still running fine. Strange, but I'm happy!
My PSD just died another time. Some warning this time with some power loss(almost like a fuel filter blocking, but the filter is new and when opening the drain it comes pouring out) ) but when it died, it just died! Ran the diagnostic, and got code 340 (CPS circuit). After clearing the DTS I get no codes at all....
So, could it be a relay gone bad or something? I'm blank here...
Ok, finally found it out. Delivered it to the local stealer, and they came up with code 1213, Injection Pressure Regulator. The changed it, and the truck fired right away! Only thing though...the cost was close to $1000....so I'm not that happy with the prize... The IPR costed $350, the rest was work...
