A little wobbly umm a small amount of slack in the input shaft is normal. remember that the pilot bushing or bearing helps supports this when in place. What I look for is any roughness while rotating the shaft checking it in all gears. The draining and examining the grease is the best way tell what shape your trans is in. Lots of metalics and you can be sure it needs attention. Also look at bearing races they should be shiney if they have a frosted or matte look, they need replacement. Look the gears over closely any pitting, teeth missing, edges worn or discoloration.

While your out, top off, check the clearances for the synchros. Set them on the low side of clearance with the steel shims. You want "detectable" input shaft end clearance, too tight and the thrust bearings will bind up with crunchy shifting. Too loose and the box will rattle as well as the taper input bearing will allow excess gear mesh clearance. Before installing the shift cover, replace the nylon shifter fork pads with new. The intermediate ball bearing will make noise and get loose with mileage or agressive driving, it's a 308L number. Standard is 7 ball (weak), get a 11 ball it's stronger. As posted above a good clutch, no reman pressure plate. Cheap baskets are stamped from thinner metal, they can crack if your motors strong or agressive driving. Replace pilot bushing and throw out bearing. Getting too long, sorry.
