That shocks me. At 70 MPH, my 1984 Oldsmobile 98 gets 21-23 MPG, and it's a feedback carbureted RWD V8 powered tank. Is that a combined figure? Because I know that around town, you can watch my gas gauge plummit like the economy. Fortunately, I do mostly highway driving.
Yeah, I don't do much highway driving. I get about 26 MPG highway, and about 19 city. I do mostly city driving, so I normally stay around 21 or so. It's not bad for what it is, and I love the car!
Talked with my son last evening about the Saturn and I lied about flawless - he advised me that the factory CD player stopped working about 2 months ago. Ha Ha. Still runs very well.

Now that makes more sense. I couldn't understand how my carb'd 307 boat anchor engine was pulling down better mileage than a SEFI 3.8L V6 Mustang. I love the car, and the engine is reliable, but nothing else nice to say about the smoggy V8. I want (eventually, when I have the time and money) to put a modern, injected V8 under the hood. I was thinking of actually using a 3 valve 5.4L Triton V8 and automatic. Boy, would that P.O. the Oldsmobile people at the local cruise! Nice thing is that the 5.4L is 330 cubes, just like the first 442 engine. If I got the entire EFI and Computer harness, used a later model Caprice Gas tank and fuel pump, it might just work. Then I'd have a late model, high tech EFI V8 in my classy Oldsmobile. The best of both worlds! Definately beats putting a Chevy engine in it!
Well I don't know how easy it is to work on one. My X and I used to have a 91 Merc Tracer. Great little car, we had it for 13 years and all we ever replaced was shocks, tires axles, and a battery. We bought it new and sold it with over 180.000 kms, and even before we sold it we still got over 850 kms/tank easy. I wish I still had that car now since we have now officially seperated. I'm looking for one now so I can park the truck and just use it when I need it.
