I am sure this has been beat to death and I am sorry but I don't visit this forum.
My wife says my Excursion has to go for something more fuel efficient and newer. So, what are you guys getting for milage? I will need 4wd and either Supercab or crew Cab.
I had my buddy at the Ford dealership write me up a deal on a 2002 F150 SuperCrew 4wd. Even on a vehicle that is 5 years old, I would be losing money on the deal. I knew I would but figured I would look into it just to humor my wife.

Reason: Mistake
I get anywhere from 14 MPG while driving like an Idiot to 17 -18 while driving like I am actually concerned about the price of Gas. Thats a 70/30 Highway/City mix. 4.6L SCAB 4x4 w/ 3.55LS
13 all city on an 05 Screw 3.73's with Exhaust and intake. I'm sure I could get better if I didn't like my exhaust so much. My stepdad says he's getting 15-17 in his with mostly city driving.
Of coarse the better you keep it tuned, the better the mileage will be, so a new air filter, and a fresh oil change will give you the best possible MPG, but even with them use/dirty you could/should be getting alittle better mpg.
Just keeping it under 2000 RPMs isn't the only fix.
I've driven my dad's truck and kept it way under 2000 RPMs, I would get a old man mad with how slow I was driving, and I got about 19.5 MPGs in town, now I know you can't expect to drive like that all the time, but leave alittle earlier, take it easy when not in a rush, don't rush to red lights, it all starts adding up.
Another thing, keep your tires aired up to recommended specs at all times.
Try babying it on acceleration for 1/8 to a 1/4 tank of gas, then check your mileage, and see how much better you get.
