I bet i've been "soo dead" by the wife more times than you. Went to a wedding the same day I changed the hypoid in trans and rearend, I didn't think my hands stunk that bad? I went on a date with her years ago and had my hands in Gunk carb cleaner day before. Take me for what I am. Sorry off subject, yes it would be nice to have a digital dial caliper and a magnet base for your dial indicator for crank end play, cam timing, piston tdc, ect....
On the dial indicator get one that has 1" travel as you might get a cam that has more than 1/2" lift at the valve. Get ideas on whats out their thru a Grainger catalog. I have mechanical as well as digital Mitutoyo. You won't have everything when starting out, hell i'm 52 and "need" more tools. Good shopping.
I would like to add that I just got my rocker arm shafts from Rocker Arm Specialists http://www.shastacounty.com/rockerarm/page5.htm, and they look and feel brand new. If this isn't the best kept FE secret then someone needs to post the address to the guy selling crossbolt blocks for $100.00!
They have my endorsement, Saturday they go in with new pushrods...
Word to the wise with old Larry, he's not into e mail. Call him if you want action.
After calling and letting the sales rep know exactly what I wanted, I had the kit and crank in my hands via USPS in 4 working days- in Spain. Talk about lucky. I would say if they have everything in stock, it will be shipped same day. Shipping is pricey because the crank wieghs in at 68 lbs, 2 lbs shy of the 70 lbs USPS shipping limit!
Hey yall i just got off the phone with Larry's Performance www.larrysperformance.com and i am questioning there quailty. I will get a list of name brands that they use. it seems strange. $20 for a set of lifters, $15 for HV oil pump ??????
