I have to change the temp sender in my 96 EB OHV V6. Can I do it without draining any coolant? I'm thinking I can do a quick swap and keep my finger over the hole when I quickly switch the parts. I can keep coolant loss to a minimum that way......or do you have to drop the coolant level...
What my brilliant stepdad suggested after I drained the coolant, put a load of paper towel in the funnel when I poured the coolant back in to filter all the crud from the drain pan and whatnot.
Worked great as I saw what all got caught by the makeshift filter....and either the 2.3L is that tough (yep) or the trick worked.
In theory, if the sensor is easy to get to, plug up with a finger, but mine was a REACH and the coolant poured out fast enough to pop the sender back out until the level dropped in the block.
