completly lost

sorry guys probably been asked this a 100 times.I have a 1980 1/2 ton ranger thr problem is the engine has been changed.it is a manual 4 speed but the engine has me lost ive narrowed it down to a 351c or 351m. the casting on the intake is for a 1980-1984 351m.ive been told two different stories on the bellhousing bolt pattern it has the narrow to spacing around 5 3/4 to 6 inch.iwas told that made it a 351m but then told the other day i had it wrong and they said that made it a 351c please help I need to get the truck on the road thanks.

The 351C uses the Small Block (289/302) bellhousing bolt pattern. The 351M and 400 use the Big Block (429/460) bellhousing bolt pattern, with the exception of a fairly rare 1973 block.
