NO, the cats do NOT burn gasoline. they burn hydrocarbons and additional crud that cannot be eliminated at the temperatures achieved in the normal combustion cycle of the engine. Therefore, the CAT is employed to remove (burn off) these additional pollutants. And its done way back in the CAT to keep the excess heat away from the engine so as not to reduce the efficiency of the engine by generating additional heat in the engine bay.

Yeah, guys, the last of the Broncos got injectionless cats that are considered more efficient than the earlier versions so in that case you don't need the smog pump...technicalities don't change the FACT that without air injection on trucks equipped with it, you WILL get erroneous readings from the O2 sensor.

ok So on my bronco the guy before me took the belt off my smog pump. there for this could be the reason why my bronco runs like hell and is slow as hell? and maybe even why it has "run on"?

The "crude oil" pumped out of the ground is a black liquid called petroleum. This liquid contains aliphatic hydrocarbons, or hydrocarbons composed of nothing but hydrogen and carbon. The carbon atoms link together in chains of different lengths. It turns out that hydrocarbon molecules of different lengths have different properties and behaviors. The purpose of air injection is the same as adding oxygen to a torch it consumes more O2 and gets hotter. and burns more, "hydrocarbons".... BTW my 93 Fiestva (AKA. KIA) has its converter between the engine and the radiator.
I wanna take about cool stuff now, like Broncos.
