I got a set of axles for my solid axle swap into my S10 Blazer and I need help identifying them. I was told they were from a 73-79 F150, but it has drums front and rear. Does this automatically make it a 67-72, or was there an option then? I was just wondering if you guys know any quick ways by measuring track width, or codes, or something.
I also tore the rear apart and it has 31 spline axles (yay) and it seems to have a locker. Can someone identify this: http://www.geocities.com/cnsutter/is_it_a_locker.html?1113182975156
I don't think it is a trac-loc, but I am no expert and I am hoping someone here could help me out and possibly point out a brand if it is a locker.
Looks kinda like a Detroit locker. Drums in front were standard until 74 or 75, when disks became standard. I would recommend getting the Warn alloy axleshafts for the front, along with CTM universals. On these axles, when the u-joints go, they tend to take the ends of the shafts with them. Also, the stock D44 F100 axles are pretty thin.
I still need to find out what year my axles are from. Could anyone help me out on this? I am going to be buying new tierod, draglink, and trackbar (and more) and I need to know what to get. I understand there is different track width between the years. Does anyone know this width so I can do some measuring when I go home?
