Purple Martins?

Anyone here have a purple martin house in their yard? I've been thinking about putting one up but I'd like to hear some comments first.

never herd of a purple martin house. what do they look like.

had one,,

for five years, but they never built in it. fly around and
land on it but never nested. gave it to my daughter this
spring and she's got three pair already. go figure.

They taste like chicken, at least 10 per person as they are small. Spotted owl are larger, longer to cook but more tasty. Sorry couldn't resist. There is a bird forum that I can't locate at the moment that sends email every month, now i'll have to locate and post.

Bruker, are you the guy that plays Red on 'That 70's Show'? Or are you just using his picture? If you decide to put one up make sure there's plenty of food around - bugs. An elderly friend of mine is pretty sure that the martin's nesting in her birdhouse eat the ladybugs that her neighbors buy to keep the aphids under control.
She's amused by this.
