hopefully some one can help me here the door locks on my explorer are crazy when ever you lock or un lock the doors with the remote the door locks lock them self 4 or 5 times realy fast like your programing a new key
Can't tell you whats wrong. My 99 Explorer has done the same thing for the past year or so. Thought it might be the battery going weak since it was the orignal. Replaced battery last year... still clicking like crazy. Will monitor this thread to see if someone else has a fix cause its somewhat baffing.
If you take it to a Ford dealership, they have a tool called an NGS(New Generation Star tester) that can monitor what is going on with each component and retrieve any codes that have been set. This will help pinpoint a problem.
With out codes and this tool, it will be hard to diagnose. Have there been any thing besides this out of the ordinary that you can tell me to help? Like are any of your door locks hard to push down to lock manually? Do you have a rear hatch area lock switch? If you inspect this rear switch, does it look like water has intruded into it? Do you have the drivers door key pad? Does it operate properly?
sorry its 2000 xls the front drivers side door lock can not be pushed down by hand but it never did the swich in the back looks to be in good shape i just recently changed the rack but it was doing this before that the only other problem is the rear passenger door the child saftey lock is stuck on so you cant open it from inside but that to has been like that a long time never had any one in the back so it dont bother me thanks for replying
so then its sounds like the drivers door lock actuator maybe bad. If it hard to lock and unlock that door then the actuator is causing resistance and needs to be replaced. never rqn into a bad child safety lock before, you might blow out the latch assembly and spray some lock lube in it and see if that works.
Had the same problem with my '97. Took the door panel off the driver's side and got in there and took the little motor out that works the door locks. I changed this and it worked just great. Only 6 months later the same thing happened to the passengers side and I did the same to it and it worked fine after.
