need help with 460 engine year
hey, I have a 460 in my 83 F-150. it's not stock of course but I bought the truck like this. It was supposedly a rebuilt bought from Ford about 5 years or more ago. No Ford dealership near me has any records to what year the motor might be. There is a silver tag on the drivers side lower end of the block that has (306006). no dealership can help me with this number, they say it's too old. Anyone know what it might be, or where i can definately get some info on it? thanks--Andy

check out the head numbers and the block casting number. The head numbers are on the exhust port ledge above the ports. The block numbers are on the right rear of the block. you may have to do some scraping and cleaning to see them if the engine is dirty or rusty. Post those numbers on here when you find them and some one will tell you what you've got.
