memory is the second thing to go

i remember reading a few posts here a while back about transmission treatments. everyone seemed to agree that they were all c _ _ p except for ... something or other. several people piped in, agreeing it was great stuff, they add it at the factory, blah, blah, blah. i did a search and can't seem to find what i'm looking for. anybody recall seeing this and remember what the product was? i'm getting ready to change my fluid and want to throw in a bottle of this magic elixir.

Are you talking about changing to synthetic fluid?

I thought there was a specific Ford additive. If nobody has answered your question by the time I get home (wednsday) then I will ask the neighbor.

Are you talking about Sea Foam? Thats the only other "magic Elixer" I have read about in here. I haven't used it so if that is it, hopefully someone else can pipe in where to find it.

I don't think you wanna put sea foam in your tranny. Sea foam is for cleaning out engine deposits and/or as a fuel additive.

Sea Foam has a tranny conditioner as well. Made the noise go away in the power steering of my old 92, at least long enough for me to sell it.

I stand corrected I had only seen/used the sea foam motor treatment
I don't know if I would use this in my truck, better to just keep up with the maintenance.

SEA FOAM TRANS-TUNE

Common Reasons Service Technicians Use SEA FOAM TRANS-TUNE

When transmission fluid is dirty – this is caused by normal use over a specified period of time.

Your service technician can offer a filter, fluid and cleaning service or a transmission flush and cleaning service using SEA FOAM TRANS-TUNE as a cleaning agent to maintain top performance and extend the life of your transmission.

When erratic shifting, rough shifting or slow shifting occurs in the automatic transmission – this is often caused by contamination if changing the fluid and filter is not done on a regular basis. Dirty fluid or gum and varnish buildup can also cause these problems.

Your service technician can offer a SEA FOAM TRANS-TUNE treatment and a fluid and filter change or a transmission flush to restore smooth and proper performance providing there are no mechanical problems.

For preventative maintenance in automatic transmissions – this is done when the customer wants assurance of smooth and proper performance before problems occur.

Your service technician can offer a SEA FOAM TRANS-TUNE treatment that will help prevent automatic transmission problems. This treatment will remove harmful gum, varnish and moisture deposits from valve bodies, governors and other internal parts.
