Spongy brakes
Since I bought it, the brakes in my 1980 F250 Xcab 4X4 have been spongy. I took it down to have the brakes bled yesterday and they spent an hour doing it. When they were finished, the owner of the shop told me they had problems bleeding them, since there was dirt packed into the bleeder valves. They had to remove the bleeder valves and clean them out before they could bleed them. Anyway, the brakes are a little better now, but I still have to pump the brake pedal several times before I have full braking power. I'm thinking they didn't get all the air out of the lines. Is there anything else that could cause the spongy brake pedal?

Spongy brakes
Having to pump the pedal to get pressure may be the rear shoe brakes out of adjustment.
Sometimes little things like missing steel line clamps can allow the steel lines to straighten out under pressure, and that will cause spongyness also.
