With the national cetane avg. @ 45, it would certainly stand to reason that many places offer less than that.

Just wondering how does cetane ratings affect EGTs.

Maybe that's why those Texas trucks run so darn well!!
I will be looking into getting additive soon to see if it makes a difference. Especially w/ SCMT.

IMO, most stations don't know what the cetane level is, therefore, can't even begin to tell what excessive cetane levels could do to a 6.0 engine.

You could have it tested somewhere on your own. Your Ford dealer may help with a testing site. But as stated it could change down the road.

Local dealer says "average" samples taken from a # of trucks in Tucson, AZ is 42-43.

ok, Tucson is fairly close. I'll check with my local dealer and see if they can give any help but unless I can talk with the diesel mechanics I'm guessing I'll get a blank stare.

Guys remember Ford advises not to run an additive during the "break-in" period. I believe this has something to do with the piston rings not seating properly. Look it up in your manual.
