Ok I am getting mixed reviews from the Ford service manager and the Diesel Tech so I thought I would throw it to yall. 05 F350 PSD with just over 1000 miles. When should I first change the oil? Any thoughts are much appreciated.Service manager says 3000 miles Diesel Tech says 2000 miles. What do ya'll say?
By the first 1500 miles, manufacturing gunk has flushed to the bottom of the pan. The rest is in the filter. The longer you wait, the more chance that something flows with the oil and across the bearing surfaces. First change should be to fresh synthetic, Delo400, or Rotella. Then change according to the owners manual. Rough service, change it every 3000 miles. Else, 5000 miles is a good medium. For over the road stretches, you can go more than 7000 miles if you're running synthetic. I have seen big rigs that never shut down, go more than 400,000 miles before internal engine work. Those ran Delo400 with changes at the 5000 mile mark.

I changed mine a 750 miles the first time and then again at 1500 miles. Took it to the dealer at 3000 miles for them to change it. I change it every three to four months now. I cant say the mileage because I dont drive it much. I have had it a little over a year and it has 3500 miles on it. But I use the motor craft oil and filers. I am a teh and although it is 40.00 bucks every time I change oit its still cheap insurance to keep the truck runnig trouble free. The Truck is great so far. Love It
