My 88 F-150 has the Quad shock setup and I want to know why this was offered for my truck? Is it supposed to give a better ride? Or a more agressive shock combination? What it does do is make you feel every bump in the road since it seems too stiff for day to day driving to me. What can I do to ease up the stiff front end? I already replaced the shocks and it handles better but the ride is rough, even for a truck.
Give me some ideas here.

I have the 4 shock setup & its stiff . I think the quad setup is designed to handle the off road possibilities . I have Ranchos & I dont notice any diff between them & the Ford shocks . What I did a few months ago that improved the ride esp over bumps was replace the the two front body mount bushings , mine were rotted away to nothing . That made a lot of difference in ride quality . They werent too hard to replace , although I did have to use a large pair of Vice Grips to hold the metal spacer , the bushing bolt threads thru the whole bushing & when you try to remove the bolt the whole thing turns & wont loosen until you hold the spacer .

Part No E2AZ 5400155 A , EOTZ 1000396 A & two M12 bolts & nuts , It all came to about $55. They are the two very front body / cab mount bushings . The other cab bushings were fine , I guess because of where the front ones are they catch a lot of water & deterorate faster .
