My truck is equipped with a power rear sliding window... for some reason it just dosn't slide anymore and I was wondering if anybody else has had the problem. The local dealership said it would cost me 35 bucks just to take a look and only if the warranty covered disconnects would the fee be waived. :@ And yet another friend's truck was leaking through the 3rd brake light and said that that might be the case for mine as well.... all help is greatly appriciated!!!
someone on here got their motor replaced underwarranty, heard it was a pretty expensive motor too. whys your dealer charging a fee when the truck is still underwarranty?
That is bull. If it is under warranty, it doesn't matter if the motor came unplugged or is faulty. He is basically saying it is going to take his guys a half hour to take out the seat and remove the access cover to inspect if the connection came loose. If it did, it was obviously an issue from the factory.
Once I had my brake light come on (00 f150). I was dropping the vehicle off for an oil change so I had the delaer look at it. It ended up being a small rubber bumper with a teet that pushed through a hole on the e brake had fallen off. THis caused the pedal to over-travel in the release position and the light came on. I prepaid for the oil change with my credit card so I didn't notice the $30 charge for removing small floor trim panel and reinstalling the bumper that they found behind the trim. I noticed the charge on my way home and called the dealer. They said it wasn't covered under warranty, and I went nuts on the advisor. He ended up giving me $30 to spend at the dealership...but I never went back.
Sorry to get off the subject...these dealers are the face of Ford...no wonder we are #2 and slipping. These dealer stories really burn me.
Yeah sounds good guys....the only thing is that my truck has 48k on the clock and has a comprehensive warranty on it. i took off the back seat last night and couldn't find anything wrong with it...but when i pushed the rocker switch the lights dimmed. If i know my electronics it means that its grounding out somewhere. The relay doesnt appear damaged and the electric flow meter shows its in working cond.
Does any one know what the fuse for the sliding window is... i looked at the owner man. and found that the only thing there was Relay 401 next to fuse29.
I had the exact same symptoms. Can't comment on your warranty, based on your mileage...
Lights dimming when you try to use the slider is what mine did too. Motor was burned and had to be replaced. And it would have been very expensive. Make sure before you go to dealer that you try sliding the window with your hand while pressing the button. My dealer stated that this will sometimes free up a track-jam. But if your window WILL NOT move even with force then it is likely the motor.
If your lights dimmed when hitting the switch, power is probably getting to the motor. Whether it's siezed or the track is just stuck is another matter.. If the fuse was blown, I don't believe you'd see any difference in the lights..
Ditto, track jam, or fried motor. Look to see if water has been getting into the motor area.
If it's a track jam, (probably not) or a 'flat spot' in the motor, it will start working again if you can get it to move, forward or back, a half inch. Of course if it's a flat spot in the motor it will stop again, eventually.

I have had my pwr slider stop working a few of times. Luckly the thing was closed when it wouldn't work. Then the darn thing starts working again before I get it into the dealer. I think it may have figured it out though. I noticed that the rubber seal strips on the outside of the slider were sticking to the window after I washed my truck. I now make sure I dry that area real good after washing and haven't been having the issue lately. Good luck!
