Weld doesn't stand behind their products...
This is not a "BASH WELD AND DON'T BUY THEIR PRODUCTS" post...this is just my personal experience with them and a wheel failure I had with one of their products. They refused to see the damage as a structural failure even though the ad states "unlimited structural warranty". Liars.
I got off the phone today for the final time with the Weld Wheel Industries warranty dude for the second and final time this afternoon. The person with whom I spoke had no interest in doing what was right, but he did try selling me new wheels....the 'Cheyenne' which is one ugly wheel.
Here's an exerpt from our first conversation last Monday (you'll get the idea):
Him: So, where did it break?
Me: The bead surface of the wheel ripped away from the wheel center.
Him: You do know that these are two-piece wheels.
Me: Yes, but the WELD didn't break, the machined aluminum ripped apart.
Him: These wheels are welded in the center.
Me: I know, but that's not where it came apart.
Him: The wheels are welded in the center.
Me: The wheel came apart at the outer bead surface; not the center of the wheel.
Him: Well, just to let you know, they are welded in the center.
Apparently, he doesn't realize that I am in a good state of mental health. I don't have alzhiemers. I remember what he said THREE TIMES IN A ROW!!!
Then he has the odacity to tell me that the wheel isn't rated for a 49" tire, although the ad does say "designed to utilize the biggest off-road tire sizes".
Well, that sounds like a load of misleading advertising........
Anyway, then the guy says that he can "upgrade" me to a set of "one piece" wheels (Cheyennes to be exact) for a good price. I then ask him how much. "Well, I've got two second line wheels for about half price, one BLEM for about 2/3 full price, and one first line wheel for full price." So, what he told me was that he's got two really expensive (roughly $275), one for a little more, then one for a full price deal of a WHOLE TON O' MONEY (roughly $450). HA HA. I told him that I didn't want those ugly wheels.
That was last Monday.
Today, he said the same thing about the wheels he could "upgrade" me to. He also told me that he talked to his boss and he can't get me a new wheel. Yeah, whatever. It cost WELD about $35 to make that wheel and they can't spare one. Sure.
They obviously don't care whether or not it's OK to run this wheel and tire combination because I've seen two featured magazine trucks running the EXACT SAME setup. I suppose I should contact the owners of those trucks and tell them that they should "upgrade" or WELD won't cover any damages.
So, in finalizing my deal with WELD, I say that I will never deal with them again and I feel stupid for ever patronizing their company in the first place with the two brand new sets of wheels I had previously purchased. I will be ordering a set of 17x14 STEEL wheels from Stockton Wheel here in a few weeks to get the truck back on the road. I am not looking forward to a steel wheel, but hey, at least it shouldn't come apart like WELD wheels do.

I have not bad-mouthed Weld Wheel Industries. I have not told anyone else to NOT buy their products. I am simply stating my experience and how I reacted.
No, it's not fair to say that ALL Weld Wheel Industries products are bad. I have had very good experiences with Weld brand wheels in the past...it's just that I got a crappy wheel and I want a new one. I can't sell three wheels....it's not possible to tell someone that "one of them broke, but here's the other three". They will not buy them. So I have 3 wheels that I paid for and can't use.
The preceedings would cost more than the wheel is worth. I'm not going to get any deeper than informing people of my misfortune. (Pirate too, but not that they'd care over there)
I'm so frustrated that I can't drive the truck. AAARRRRGGGGHHH. Not that I don't have an extra set of tires, but the LF brake line was destroyed, so I'm waiting for one of those to show up........

Not every product is going to be flawless but when something goes wrong the company should take care of it. End of story. Sorry to hear that they wouldn't take care of you Cody.

imo, The off-road wheels I have seen have a sticker right on them that tells you the max. size you can run for a tire. I do not know why Weld would not have one. To advertise "designed to utilize the biggest off-road tire sizes" and not stand behind it does not seem right. Especially with some people running 54s.
