Rear Window Snap-in??

With summer coming along i am reminded of last summer when the interior of my rig was as hot if not hotter than the outside temperature. i have no air conditioning in an 88' black bII... i do not want to go through with the hassle opf having the top cut and refinished and i was looking around at fullsize broncos and really loved the rear window that can roll up and down.. the question is has anyone done or seen or have plans for removing the rear window out and in many times sort oif like a sun roof would?? this would be very helpful with the heat coming

Well I removed my three rear windows 3 years ago. On some BII's the side windows are bolted into place (I believe the older 1984-3's where glued in like a windshield). The rear window just "pops" into place. To remove it take a flat head screwdriver and put it between the rubber seal and the hatch on the inside of the II. It is easer to start in a corner and work your way along the top. With another screwdriver do the same about 6 in down from the first one and gently pry down so the seal is lower than the frame. Now with someone on the outside have them pry (in the same corner you are working on) towards the rear of the II. Once the corner comes out all you will have to do inside is push the seal down as the window comes out. Also I think a ranger rear window will fit in the opening of a BII hatch. So you could get a slider rear window and solve a few things at the same time.

I hope this helps

well a snap or zip in window would be fast and easy to remove and replace but also would defeat the reason to have locks.

The window will pop back in just as easy as it came out, No glue or anything like that, also it wont leak which is nice. Have fun with that, It almost feels like a Jeep with that window out (with the amount of air flow)

got it out this morning... at first started to pull the actual glass out the seam but then realized that the entire weatherstrip comes out with it .. so its all done and out.. and improves airflow greatly.. thanks a lot man really helps out when its warm not to mention gets the bas out the backas welll.... just a reminder for anyone else who reads this thread... you should get yourself some turtle wax vinyl and rubber protectant or similar just to keep the seals in tip top condition for taking it in and out a lot so they weatherstrip doesnt crack and lead to a leaky window...

if you got it with a lakey window .. just go ahead and get a new seal to go around the window.. im assuming they would be under 40 bucks and you can take the window out and put it in easily enough with two pole.. jsut be careful around the corner i tore one of the accidently.. also if you aren going ot take your window out at all.. im not speaking fomr experience but i dint think a little bead of silicone where the window slides into the seal will hurt.. it all depends on where its leaking from...
