I am a Jet Engine Mechanic for the Air Force and have never heard of it. I haven't heard of any private pilots speak of it either. Probably just another scam.

Hey folks, new to the board. I'm a General Aviation pilot with extensive maintenace background in our families FBO. Av-1 is the Linkite product for aviation piston powered aircraft engines. It's manufactured in the Chicago area and is shipped out for addition to the oil in newly overhauled aircraft engines by several rebuilders. The company that makes it is also an overhauler and is deeply involved in the Aurora Indy engine programs. Their name escapes me right now, but from what I've seen of there production engines and how they performed and lasted for our customers I'd have to put some trust in the product.
I'm sorry but I have to agree with what that article says. If these products are so stinking good then why aren't the car manufacturer's puting it in their engines before they leave the assembly plant?
There's a reason behind that, and I can just about bet everybody could figure it out.
Also, major racing engines are torn down after every race and checked. Therefore these additives don't do those engines any good from what I can see. Come on, think about it. Take a walk through the pits at a drag race, and see if any of the crews are pouring that stuff in the engines.
