YEP MY HEAD IS GOING AROUND AND AROUND TRYING TO GET THIS DAMN AIR CLEANER SETUP RIGHT. I JUST GOT A NEW AIR CLEANER THRU (MAC'S ANTIQUE AUTO PARTS) LOOKS GREAT. NICE FORD BLUE WITH THE AIR CLEANER STICKERS ON TOP. BUT HOW THE HELL IS THIS VACCUM HOOK UP WORK I KNOW ONE OF THE HOSE'S RUN FROM THE TOP OF THE AIR CLEANER FROM THE (AIR CLEANER TEMP. SENSOR) THRU A RETARD DELAY VALUE ASSY. TO DUST AND VALUE ASSY. THE OTHER HOSE GO'S WHERE? I ALSO HAVE A THERMO. CONTROL VALUE ON THE SIDE WITH TWO FITTING. IS THE OTHER HOSE RUNNING FROM THE TOP OF THE AIR CLEANER FROM THE AIR CLEANER TEMP. SENSOR RUN TO IT AND THE OTHER OUTLET RUN TO THE BACK OF THE CARBURETOR? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. THANKS
Wrong Vaccum Setup! Say (lxman1). I Set It Up Like You Said And All I Got Was A Engine Killing It Self. So I Drove Out To Ford Dealership And Talked To A Old Timer That Worked In The Parts Department. The Best He Could So Was Pull Up A Diagram From A 1980 Ford F-100 302/v8. And Right Off The Top I Saw That The Top Vaccum Lines Are Nothing Like What You Said. But I Still Have A Uncomplete Picture With This. There Must Be A Full Diagram Showing The Vaccum Setup. Ya The Way You Had It. The Flapper Would Close Right Up And Cut Off The Air Altogether Killing The Air Flow. I'm Thinking About Sending A E-mail To Ford It Self To Get The Correct Setup.
The valve will be closed until the warm air off the exhaust manifold opens the valves. This does not kill the engine unless the airflow from the heat stove is restricted (silver tube). LxMan1 had the correct setup. I usually only use one thermal valve, the one in the lid.

Because of the obvious differences the diagram must be for a truck.
In fact, you need the EXACT calibration code fom the calibration sticker on the valve cover to determine which emissions routing & adjustments you need.
well in a perfect world all anyone would have to do is look at the calibration sticker on the valve cover...but in the real world 99% of them have eather fallen off or were painted over...or just....gone....but with a basic diagram for a truck of that year he could get pretty close.....and i meant earlier that i have car AND truck diagrams...for various engine's....so have a nice day
