Well, I guess things can get worse..... On top of everything else my power slide rear window failed this morning. Opened verrrrrrry slow to about 1/2 way and then stopped. Went to close it and it didn't move. Wonderfull, more time at the dealership
Give this a try... I had same conditions you described. Works like a charm now.
Clean out the tracks best you can.
Apply white lithium grease to the tracks (above and below....make sure you apply to entire track, not just the portion that is exposed when the rear window is open)
Dealer replaced my entire back window b/c it did the same thing. It would open 1/2 way and then stop, if you waited a few minutes and tried again it would slowly open the rest of the way. They tried to clean it and lube it and adjust it and eventually replaced the entire assembly, glass and all. Took all of one day to do after they got the parts. Good luck with it, and get it fixed before it sticks OPEN, they are a pain to close by hand when the motor locks, so they told me when I got mine fixed.
Which dealer did you go to? Dealer had ordered a replacement for mine, but after I did the WL grease...its been working fine. Dealer tried the dry lube on my window which did not work...which was the reason they ordered the replacement. I'm torn whether or not to let them just replace it even though its working great.
hey once you've got it functioning again you might want to pay close attn. to wether or not it is binding up mine was installed incorrectly at the factory (warped) as it was installed I caught it by the sound of the motor it would load up as it opened was replaced under warr. now opens soooo! nice smooth and quiet I never had a power slider befor but if I have my way I'll never be without one again good luck
Actually, The dealership just picked mine up this morning to fix the same problem. They said they have had a few in with powerslider problems. Some they were able to clean and lube and others they had to replace. Curious to see what they do with mine.
Mine will be going in soon too. Since new, has been slow and seemed to hang when about 80% open. I lubed tracks with parifin wax; seemed to help a little. During the winter it would flat stop and not go. I have got back there with it in the hang position and it doesn't seem to be hanging; I suspect something wrong with the drive motor and cables. I'll let them worry about it under warranty.
A coworker has a new F-150, his power sliding rear window seems to have a much higher overall speed of opening and closing. I don't know anyone else with a Superduty and the power window to know if mine is also too slow with respect to normal or the new F-150 is just faster.
I'm having the same problem with my rear slider. Only I'm not as willing to climb around in the back of my brand new $50K luxury truck trying to lube a window that didn't even work more than 10 times from the factory.
Maybe this is just the "straw" that's finally breaking my back over this truck. I saved for several years to buy the truck of my dreams and have been very discourage with the problems and even more discouraged with the customer service. My dealer told me that "they couldn't duplicate the problem at this time." Maybe if I take it to them while it's stuck open and raining on my leather I'll actually get some help.
The rear slider on my 2005 F-250SD 6.0L CC Lariat was draging and the dealer service shop said it needed adjusting. Made adjustment and now works as good as wife's new F-150.
