how do you take it off anyways? i bought the bronco from the 2nd owner and he's never done it and he said he doesn't hink the original owner did either. does it take 2 people to do so? will the harness for the 3rd brake light have to be cut off or just disconnected?
I like to run with my top off too. But usually I end up having too much stuff stored inside that I want to keep out of the weather and other peoples hands ... so it doesn't get removed as often as I want - on the 89. But as far as the 79 goes, I had the top off it for most of last summer and then most of the winter too. lol The top got frozen into the ground because I was away when the frost came. Didn't get the top on it til after xmas! Wore my touque and gloves for a while then!! lol It wasn't as cold as you would think though driving around with no top at -20C. Kind of like skiing.....
Xoliex,
Check the red link in my signature for instructions for removing the top from a 92 or later model.
Tex94,
Yeah, the hole in the top of mine stretches from "seam" to "seam" of the fibreglass sections that make up the top. I have more pics than this in my gallery. The sealing method on mine is an aluminum ridge arond the hole with an RTV seal between it and the fibreglass. Works really well, I can take the high pressure nozzle at the car wash and clean the top without fear of water in the cabin. Nice thing is the soft piece rolls up and stores in the cargo area for quick installation should the weather turn rotten.

You know, I hate that for you. It's the same in the Atlanta Metro area. I did opt for the Apline that had the removable face plate, but they'd always try to take the speakers I guess. Probably the major reason I only took it off 1 week each year. As retired military we stayed in the Navy Lodge @ Pensacola, a fairly secure area.
dont worry about the water in the truck cuz of the rino lined interier but i do have a soft top check my gallery for pics. I am lookin at buyin another bronco and keepin all original
