Does the 92-97 F350 run a solid front axle? Have a F250 that needs a lot more strength and looking into a 4" lift from either superlift or skyjacker, and wish to add a solid dana 60 front. all info is appreciated
A D60 will prolly cost a grand. easily. and if it needs all new parts, ball joints, brakes, rotors. it will be cheaper, but those cost money, so figure on a grand. they are a bolt right in swap. just have to take the TTB brakets off the frame and bolt the D60 to the stock leafs. driveshaft should fit too. a non dually is what most people say is required. Soon I will be the proud owner of a D60 from a dually, so I will know first hand if one can be converted to a non dually and made to fit a F250.
Look for the name barebackjake. he just did a swap into his 94.
yeah im process of getting it done on the 97, the 94 is a superduty,
got an axle out of a 97 F350 direct bolt in. the 92 and newer will have balljoints which is better for rebuilding. the pre 92 has kingpins which are a stronger design, but dont stay as tight as long as ball joints and kinpins can be a messed up job to rebuild. a complete rebuilt is gonna run you about $1500. bearings, seals, brakes, balljoints.....everything....bout the only thing that is getting reused is the housing, carrier, knuckles, steering cross over.
the D50 driveshaft works but the one out of the 350 is better due to double cardan joint on the tcase which is smoother for long driving in 4x4 and higher speeds. the d50 driveshaft can be changed to that joint type by a driveline shop for probably $200 including new slide yoke and ujoint and cardan joint. i paid little over that for mine.

Since this one I am looking at is an 85, will it still have the CV joint. why dont the D50's have them???
I am pretty sure its a 208 t-case, behind a BB c-6 I am gunna sell all that right away, have no use for it. If i get what I wanna get for them I will have a D60, and a one ton 4:10 rear end for $500, plus a long wheelbase chassy, for scrap metal. the cost of the D60 just keeps going down.
the d50 dosnt have as much travel as the d60 will thats why they did it.
dangit sounds like your making out good on that one. i thought i read somewhere recently what the diffences were between the hubs were. ill let you know.
