What was that show???

Not too long ago, I was channel hopping, and came across a show that had two teams competing to build and start engines.
These guys were building Ford V8s. 302s, I think.
The winning team built (starting with a bare block) this engine and fired it up in less than 27 miutes!!!
The only pieces pre-installed were the camshaft bearings.

There was a penalty for having loose bolts, nuts, leaks, etc.
The winning team had NO penalties, if I remember correctly.

This show was great! The losing team built theirs in like 31 minutes.

I can't remember if it was on "Speed" or another network.
Did anyone else see this?

TIA.

I think I remember seeing that. It was a long while back though. I know my jaw dropped at the end!

Yeah I saw that.. I wouldn't want either of those engines in my car.... Too many places to make mistakes. Just because they met nascar standards doesn't mean they met mine.

Still, no title listed??? Q:What are NASCAR standards? A: to make the most powerful engine go only 500 miles in the quickest time.

Nope, no good for my truck either, I might drive 500 miles a week, very slowly and need my engine to do that 52 weeks per year. I'm glad I spend countless hours changing a part on the block, lasts longer that way.

Yes, but the engines in the cars aren't built in 27 minutes. They can take several months with dyno testing.

I think NASCAR recently changed there rules so engines have to go 2 races now. Still though, thats only about 1000 per engine.

Nope.

I recently sold to a friend, an old '89 Blazer (full size) that now has 241,000 miles on it, and it has not even had the valve-covers taken off.
Doesn't smoke. Engine is/was extremely dependable. Best engine I've ever owned. (And I've owned a bunch of cars / trucks.)
U-joints? That's another story. Paint too.
