Engine Whistle
Got 2 new sealed bearings #6203 ($10 each) and back home to tear it apart again. Popped out the old bearings with a big socket and a hammer - new bearings in the same way. Now it pures like a kitten again.
It's fairly easy to do. I had my radiator fan and shroud out at the time as I was replacing the fan so I had a lot more room. But you can still get the pulleys off with the fan on. There's a tension pulley you rotate with a socket wrench - mine was 16 mm. Belt falls off. For the tensioner, mine was left hand threads so watch out for that. The idler pulley was right hand threads. The pulleys are a simple pressed steel cup so littereally, use a big socket and a hammer to bang the bearings out and back in again.
First thing you need to do is pull a pulley off and read the bearing number on it. I see no reason why Ford may have changed this on your year but they could have. These ae not Ford numbers but industry standard so any good auto parts store will have them.
There was only one part the idler pulley, it is at the very top of the motor (v6-4.0). At most there would be 1 hour labour. I no longer have the truck so I can't take a picture. It is NOT the tensioner pulley which is located lower to the left as I recall.
