Anyone have any good/bad comments/suggestions abt LUK's Heavy Duty
Cerametalic Clutch upgrade kit?? Considering it for my 2000 psd 6spd..
thanks for any/all!!!
If you aren't making way above stock horsepower, I would consider it overkill. The standard LUK repset should last forever on a stockish truck, and costs half as much as the hybrid clutch.
I have the standard luk, and I love it. However, I hate the throwout bearing it came with. It started to squeel as soon as I started the motor. Do yourself a favor and buy a throwout bearing from somewhere else.
the standard luk would be fine in a mild application, the ceramitallic takes some getting used to to drive its grabbier than the regular luk. im running the cerametallic in my truck just cause the regular luk slips with the power im putting out now. but im pushin 400rwhp.
This is a good place to ask this question: How durable/reliable is the pilot bearing on these rigs? I have a hippity hop on clutch engagement that makes me suspicious of a pilot bearing that has lost all it's needle rollers.
Cookie- thanks for input.....wondering if you do any heavy towing with your Luk
standard?? I'm pulling a 36' Fifth (3slides) at abt 13,000lbs. I've noticed slight slippage sometimes on inclines with the stock. Mild mods done to engine,(tow w/flip at 70hp)but at 60,000mi thought if i had to change, would go with something stronger.
EDMGUY69. Our 32' TT is about 11,400 wet, no slippage at all so far. Clutch has almost 30k on it, and the truck is just shy of 350HP. I'm a big fan of the standard LUK.
Kwik. It seems like it depends a lot on the engine. Most of the people that have cackle and idle knock also report the pilot bearing being nearly destroyed when they do the clutch, a couple of folks have even lost the tranny because of it. Mine was perfect at 87K, of course I changed it anyway since I had the flywheel off.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Thanks for the answer. Next project....
