tuner egts

Does any one know which tuner, either SCMT or the Edge Evolution would have the lowest egt? I am trying to decide which way to go and could use any info. I am towing a 5th wheel that is about 11K.

I have tried both and the edge is by far a better product for power. As far as egt's; I'm not sure. I've been told the Superchips is not good on egt's but who knows. I would STRONGLY suggest that you have gauges before doing any towing with any tuner or chip. I can push the limit(1300deg)with out a chip towing. And 11k is a good load.

I Have a SCMT 1705 with straight exhaust and a kwik filter and EGT's are never an issue for me.

I have tried both programmers and the Edge definitely has more power than the SCMT, but the EGTs also ran higher with Edge. When I ran the SCMT I never saw the EGTs get over 1100. When I ran the Edge the EGTs hit 1500 degrees when I tried doing the quater mile. This was in the highest setting for both programmers. I would definitely suggest getting gauges either way, because every truck is different.

95psd,

I thought I would also let you know that I sent my Edge Evo back and am using the SCMT because the tranny wasn't shifting right with the Edge. It seemed like the tranny was slipping a lot between shifts. When I called Edge they said, it didn't seem like it was the programmer, but probably the trans itself. Well when I put the SCMT back in the truck, it shifted fine, so I decided against the Edge. I think the Edge might have made too much power for my trans to handle. So, if you have an older trans with no modifications done to it, you might want to consider that when purchasing your tuner.

Thank's 01F350, that is the kind of info I need. I had my tranny rebuilt last Sept. so I hope I am good to go for a long time. I guess I am still undecided on which way to go. Looks like I am leaning more towards SCMT again.

I see you are running the SCMT. I just purchased one, in the mail now. Funny how you read more about them after the purchase than before. My buddy tuned my truck with the scmt and it was awesome, so I went with what I KNEW. My one question is, in looking at this site I have seen a lot about the predator vs scmt, I guess I feel that more folks recommend the predator... what is your take... can you ease my buyers remorse?
thanks fro your input,
jay

Don't feel bad, the SCMT is a great tuner. I never hear of people having EGTs and tranny issues with the SCMT, like they do with the Predator and Edge. Besides these auto trannies can only take so much power before you start jeopardizing thier realiablity.

95, if you have upgraded intake and exhaust, dont count out the Predator. If not, be careful whatever you use.

I have done the air intake, down pipe, pyro, and some how lost my cat. I think I am leaning towards the Evolution.

I used to SCMT before I got guages so I can't comment on the EGT's. I now use the Edge (with guages) and have never seen the EGT go above 1250. Then again, I drive by the EGT (and am a bit of a chicken) so I start backing out of the throttle at about 1150. As for the trans issue, the other posts are correct; the SCMT didn't do much of anything to the trans shift (might've been a little firmer shift), but the Edge really messes up the shift points in the 80- and 100-hp settings. I added a Banks TransCommand to counter the effect of the Edge (it helps, but O/D shift & TC lockup are still a bit sloppy).
