PO500 Help

I have a 2000 Ranger 2WD with the 3.0 engine, 4 speed automatic trans. My speedo doesn't work, the ABS light is on, and the OD off light flashes occasionally. The trans will shift from 1st to 2nd automatically, but I have to shift it manually into 3rd. Autozone pulled a PO500 (VSS malfunction) code, so I replaced that and still nothing. Anyone have any ideas please?!

Sound like there is a problem getting the vss signal back to the ecm. IF you still have the vss code then you need to look at the wiring/connectors.

Did you unhook the battery when doing the sensor change? Maybe try unhooking it yet again for 15 minutes or so to reset the computer.

Welcome to FTE!

The sensor you changed was located on the top of the rear differential, right?

Also, keep in mind TSB 01-5-2 regarding water intrusion into certain wiring harness connectors which can produce similar symptoms:
