i have a 78 302 and i recently came across some 68 302 heads. other then the rockers and studs are they a bolt on deal or are the accessory bolt holes different? i want them for the compression. i believe it raises a flat top piston 302 to 10.5-11 to 1. mine has stock flat tops with the big chamber heads and its around 8.5 to 1. any info is appreciated........
When I put a 69 302 in my 85 truck to use as a test mule the accessary bolt holes were different. They were spaced closer together and the power steering AC bracket wouldn't bolt up.
I've never seen small block heads that had differently spaced accessory bolt holes. There were however different size threads though. Early heads had 3/8" holes, the later ones were 7/16"

I'm sitting here today with 5 stitches in my arm where I let a die grinder slip last week when trying to elongate the bolt holes in a power steering bracket from an 86 302 because it wouldn't bolt up to the 69 heads. The accessory bolt holes were about 1/8 in closer together on the 69 heads.
