Well the wife and i was just goofing off Wednesday and i decided to go check and see if the local ford dealership had any V-10's. They had one i got to test drive. It was just a standard model. Nothing fancy, 4x4 Single Cab F250. Man was i impressed. THink i shook up the sales lady that came with me. But i prewarned her that i wanted to test the V-10. It did awsome passing and getting up to the desired speed. Altho i don't think she was happy about my desired speed LOL. I'll have to say i didn't think it sounded that much different then a V-8. Matter of fact when we got done i double checked the badges to make sure. So after all the great info i gotten off of here and then getting to test drive one. I'm very very pleased with the decision to go with a V-10 Model. Now if they'll just hurry up and get all the info for the '06 so i can get my order in.
Was going to try and hold out for an '07 but we're just needing a truck to badly. And even the wife said if after the '07's come out and they are really the truck to have we'll just put ours up for sale and get an '07 or wait till we can order an '08.
I was greatly suprised at how awsome it is. Even tho i've read a bazzilion of these post's with ppl bragging about it. you and Wrench and so on. Just can't wait.
wait till saturday afternoon. i'm going to the dyno shop and blasting mine and will post the results. . i have had many many new fords in my days and this one is the most awsome pick up i have had and ranks next to a 1964 427 425 hp gal. 500 xl
Bigford74, boy I wish I had a wife like yours. I have already stated to my significant other that I am getting a new truck sometime is 07'. I have a 03' with 40K miles on her. In mid 07' I will be pushing 100K. So it will be time to replace it. My gal has giving me the business about getting a new truck. Granted when I get rid of my rigs, they look like the day I baught it. She keeps on saying for what? I say I make the money, I make the rules. joking of course.....well maybe not. But anyways I am waiting for the 07's but might wait until 08' I just really hate buying something new and improved in the first year of production. It usually takes a few years to get the bugs worked out.
It's taken me a long time to be able to get to buy a new truck. Our last real car purchase was our '91 Nissan Maxima. Now with 242k miles on it and still going strong the body is starting to go. And we've moved about 2.5hrs away from the family. So we wanted something to haul/travel/pull. All wrapped into 1 vehicle and when it all boiled down to it. The F250 CC was it.
And yes Cap i'm as excited to see your results from the dyno.

Being a 14yr. employee for the BIG BLUE OVAL,it's nice to read about someone's positive experience driving a domestic vehicle (especially a Ford) after many miles in a foreign vehicle.
Just a guess, but I'd say you know a helluva lot more about truck engines than all of the guys out there who aren't driving a Triton V10! It's hands down the best gasoline light truck engine out there and arguably better in many aspects than the current diesels. Especially from a cost/benefits standpoint.
I hang out on a few other truck forums and the Dodge and Chevy/GMC owners never miss a chance badmouth the hell out of the 6.8L-everything from it "revs too high" to "it's gutless"!! To me that's just a sign of jealousy and means Ford hit the nail on the head with this engine!
I really like my Nissan/Toyota's as far as cars and there dependability with longevity but i'm also pretty sure it helps that i take very good care of my vehicles in general. Oil changes, tune ups, etc. But ever since i was a little boy and my dad had a '78 F250 i've been madly hooked on Ford Trucks. He once hooked up to a single wide mobile home and tow'd it across town. And the lady didn't unload anything except herself from it. And it was the type that the kitchen was at the front end of the trailor. As soon as i get ahold of the pic i'll see about getting it on the site. Sooo after many yrs i finally get to purchase my own brute.
may you have the best of luck with the new truck. the s/d by it self is one wonderfull smooth riding truck. when you like a gas motor the v10 is the way to go. not that the 5.4 won't make it move it's not like one with the v10 in it.
mine is what i wanted and it runs better then i could have thought it would. it fits my budget payment wise. tows my toys with no problem and gets me to and from work every day. it wears two blue ovals, to me that is all that matters.
many happy years with it.
