Ugly Year?

Just wondering which year you think is the ugliest Ford pickup (48 up), and why.

Nothing personal intended, just honest look at style.

Thinkin' ugly on a rare sunny March day,

Paul

If it has to be 48 and up I would have to say the boxy body styles of the 1980 up through the mid ninetys or whenever it was that they changed them back to the more rounded style. Too bad you didnt include pre 48 as most people would agree the 42-47 body style is ugly. I say most cause I got two of em!

"Just wondering which year you think is the ugliest Ford pickup (48 up)"

This thread has no good purpose Paul. Why do we want to come to Ford Truck enthusiasts site and bash our buddies pride and joy?. I know you well enough to know that wasn't your intent.

It's the 56 BBW though if you must have an answer.

Just trying to lighten the mood.

All vehiclae have there own character, and when your a die hard ford guy, nothing is realy ugly. I dont care for the 57ish trucks, and now I dont like the new body style again. I have a new classic truck mag with a dove grey 41 I think, I love that truck. I also have a line on a 55 Chevy p/u I wanna get. Wanna build all 3 of my kids something to leave them when Im gone, and my wife too. Wanna build all 3 kids a 66 and earlier fastback stang each, and the wife a vert. My guess on the ugliest truck would be a long bed 57 maybe.

Just my unimportant oppinion

i would have to agree with the '80s body style being not very attractive....and the grilles of 54's would have to be next....ive got three of them, and i dont like any one of em ......however...there are a lot of guys here that have done a wonderful job of making their pickups look good enough that the grille looks good too.....John's "Jag Red" pickup came to the top of my head as i said that...
no matter what people think of them, its only opinions, and as long as they all have that Ford logo on them, does it really matter what they look like???

Personally, I think it's cool that 48-52 are so popular now. I remember back when the only old Ford trucks that were fixed up were 53-56 and 40 and T-buckets. 57 and up seem to becoming more popular too. Personally I'm not fond of the 70s and 80s trucks, cuz it seems that all the Big-3 manufacturers were just stuck in ruts and not changing the body styles much.

To me it's always the newest body style out. When Ford introduced the new round style (1986?) can't remember the exact year, I said boys were in trouble now, this thing will never sell! Luckily I'm always wrong.

Not trying to bash, just trying to get some opinions; after all, I have a few of these also. I do wonder what was going through the stylists at Ford when, to counter the "new" mid50s Chevy pickups, they came out with that style on the '57. What were they thinking?

I agree with the '80s body style not being the best, especially since they are not on this forum.

I have a panel, so I know what homely means. I also think the C*** panels look a little better, both Gen 1 and 2 styles. I like the way they have a "cover" piece over the air gap between body and bumpers.

I happen to really like the 80's trucks, my dad has a had an 82' F150 since it was a year old. I grew up riding in and driving that truck and I love it.

I don't know if I would call any of them ugly, but I think the 60's and 70's had some boring looking trucks. But I've seen some of every year I like, most are shortbeds. I think a short box looks better than a long box. That being said, I have two long bed pickups, I wish the 50 was a shortbed so much that I plan to make it one.

I know you said 48-up, but the one that always make me scratch my head and wonder what some designer was drinking is the '38/39 horsecollar grille.

Otherwise the definition of the word 'ugly' in the dictionary says "see early 70's International pickups."

Wheels, Stance, and paint. Put them together and any vehicle looks great.

But what do I know? Wayne

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's the ugliest year but I've never been able to take a liking to the auger style grille on the 51-52.

I know that everybody is going come after me for saying this, but I think by some aesthetic standards, the 53-56 are pretty ugly. I have a 53, and I love it dearly (my wife thinks I care for it more than I do her), but really...there are better looking trucks. Viewed from head on, it looks an awful lot like the grotesque face that kids make when they hook their index fingers onto the sides of their mouths and pull. I've always thought the F-1s were better looking. I know I'm sticking my neck out here...bring it on
